IMPERIALLY YOURS! - Week of MAY the 4th

May the Fourth Be with You
Inspired by the music of John Williams and his exceptional and memorable score for the Star Wars Movies, You are going make a video that you feel best expresses the Imperial March. It can be, but does not have to be exclusively Star Wars themed. Listen to how the music speaks to you and do your best to recreate that idea in a video. Anything goes, you can dance, draw, animate, sing...the possibilities are endless, just be creative. Have fun my young Padawans and may the musical force be with you!

John Williams
John Williams was born on February 8, 1932, in Floral Park, New York. In 1948 John moved with his family to Los Angeles, California. He later attended college near his home in Los Angeles where he began to study composition. After college he was drafted into the United States Air Force where he had the opportunity to conduct and arrange music for the Air Force band. In 1954, when his service ended, Williams moved to New York City and enrolled in the Julliard School of Music. After completing his education at Julliard, Williams moved back to Los Angeles to begin working as a film studio orchestrator. Eventually he was given the opportunity to compose the theme to the television series Lost in Space. This marked the beginning of a career that has spanned six decades. During this time Williams produced some of the best music ever written for film, including his music for Star Wars which was selected by the American Film Institute as the greatest film score of all time. John Williams wrote music for numerous movies since 1950. He has been nominated for 40 Oscars and received 5 of them. Some of his most popular music scores were written for: Saving Private Ryan, The Harry Potter Series, Schindler's List, The Superman Movies, E.T., Close Encounters, The Indiana Jones Movies, Jaws, The Jurassic Park Movies and the Star Wars Movies (all of them). |
